— Missive dal limbo. Lettere inedite di Florence MacKnight al barone Bettino Ricasoli (1869)
AbstractThis article introduces a series of unpublished letters, held by the Archivio di Stato in Florence, written by Florence MacKnight to Baron Bettino Ricasoli and analyses how letter writing becomes a means of affirming feminine identity, by way of a different conception of maternity. The letters contribute to foregrounding Florence’s personality and biography and, furthermore, her relationship with the Florentine societal cultural context.
