Abstract
Drawing up from widely shared assumptions in linguistic and literary studies, the paper investigates the connector also in Kafka’s Process as an example of a significant literary-poetic linguistic sign. A comparison is made between the uses of also in Kafka’s works and those described in grammatical codes. The comparison demonstrates the expressive potentialities of Kafka’s linguistic signs. These are not only relevant for the grammatical description of the German language, but also for the transmission of linguistic knowledge and other complex competences, such as textual and interpretative skills, in the field of DaF.
