Abstract
A biological district born on the initiative of a group of local inhabitants and entrepreneurs, an idea taken over by a local administration, a rural landscape of great cultural value and an experience of territorial governance that has always been innovative, these are the elements of the small story told in these pages. Within this story we propose an example of management of rural territory and of protection of an historic landscape, describing a virtuous relationship between a local community, agricultural practices and environmental equilibrium. The connection between the creation of a biological district and urban planning at the level of a Municipality is one of the cornerstones of this experimentation, mainly because the narrated experience was born in an extremely collaborative atmosphere of co- design, where economic players, public administration and citizens were able to meet the challenge of a renewed active citizenship, highlighting the potentialities of a designing community.
