Il “Bellum civile” di Petronio nella traduzione (perduta) di Francesco Algarotti

Abstract

The article proposes a critical and commented edition of Francesco Algarotti’s manuscripts, dedicated to the translation of the Bellum civile, from Satyricon by Petronius. The autographs, traces of a juvenile project preserved in the municipal library of Treviso, turn out to be very important documents: they anticipate many of the problems and of the theoretical solutions that Algarotti would face throughout his life, opening new perspectives on the interpretation of his critical experience and on the modern debate about translation.
