Abstract
This paper examines the pedagogical thought of Ernesto Codignola through the interpretative lens of the “network”, understood not as a technological metaphor but as a constitutive principle of educational practice. Drawing upon the Comenian motto Agenda agendo discantur— which has guided the Scuola-Città Pestalozzi in Florence since its inception—the article reconstructs the three dimensions of Codignola’s network: social, economic, and international. The analysis is based on primary archival sources, with a specific focus on the Minutes of the Executive Board for the 1955-56 academic year. Finally, the study proposes a reading of Codignola’s legacy in light of 21st-century challenges, demonstrating how his vision of the school as an open system anticipated contemporary issues such as school autonomy, inter-institutional collaboration, and the internationalization of education.
