Abstract

The article focuses on the different configuration the proverbs that can be found in the "Familia de Pascual Duarte" by Camilo José Cela (1942) have in the Italian translation by Salvatore Battaglia (1944). If Cela uses them in an accurate and “playful” way, the Italian version translates the proverbs very carefully forgetting the facetious function they perform in the Spanish novel.
