Abstract
Between 1792 and 1800, Joseph William Turner experimented with the expressive potential of light while painting some of James Wyatt’s buildings. These subjects offered a full repertoire of architectural figures and models, providing Turner with a wide range of typological elements, where the functional aspects of the represented spaces was subordinated to the main purpose of the paintings, which was to experiment with new luminous effects.
