Abstract

L’articolo è una lettura critica del progetto di Groupwork + Amin Taha per 15 Clerkenwell Close a Londra, sull’area precedentemente occupata da un convento agostiniano di epoca normanna. La natura ontologica e, insieme, rappresentativa del maestoso telaio di pietra che caratterizza le due facciate principali dell’edificio offre lo spunto per una riflessione sulla tettonica quale procedimento costitutivo dell’arte del costruire, sulla memoria e sulla natura del ‘tempo’ architettonico.

This essay is a critical reading of Groupwork + Amin Taha's project for 15 Clerkenwell Close in London, on the site where an Augustinian nunnery from the Norman era once stood. The ontological and representative nature of the majestic stone structure that characterises the two main facades of the building provides the opportunity for a reflection on tectonics as a constitutive procedure in the art of building, as well as on memory and on the very nature of architectural 'time'.
