Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the role of the humanities in contemporary life focusing on the relationship between Europe and America. As circles expanding, the starting point will be the work of an eminent scholar in the field, Prof. Mario Materassi, whose contribution to American Studies and legacy were recently celebrated in a volume edited by Cristina Giorcelli and Giuseppe Nori.
