Abstract

French universities have started to introduce AI-related training programmes, primarily at master's level and in STEM subjects. However, there are currently no equivalent offerings in the humanities, particularly German Studies. This article examines emerging initiatives, such as workshops, task forces and communities of practice, which address the ethical and methodological implications of AI in the humanities. It presents the results of a qualitative survey of German Studies scholars in France, investigating their perceptions, applications, and expectations of AI. Based on these insights, the study lays the groundwork for future implementations that address specific needs and reflects on the specific institutional context of higher education in France.
