Abstract

Moving from the «Cinema-scene» of the fifth chapter of the novel Der Zauberberg by Thomas Mann, the essay aims to tackle the whole relation between the German novelist  and the cinema.  The subject is handled in the light of the Walter Benjamin’s artwork-essay  and of its analysis of the relation between cinema, fascism and aestheticization of  politics. The thesis of the author is that the emerging of the cinema has established a new political and symbolical dimension of the relation between art, technique and ‘magic’.
