Author Guidelines

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Manuscript submission

Papers must describe original research not published nor currently under review by other journals. Parallel submissions will not be accepted. All submitted papers, if relevant to the themes and objectives of the journal, will go through an external peer-review process. The decision about any submitted paper will be taken within four to five months of receipt.

Publication in Statistica Applicata-Italian Journal of Applied Statistics is free of charge.

Authors are kindly asked to comply with all the Journal’s Instructions.

British and American English: the articles must be written in British English; nevertheless, also American English may be accepted.

Please, note that a mixed of these two English language styles cannot be accepted.

  1. Initial submission

    All papers must be submitted via the online system: you need to Login if already regsiter, or to Register if you are a new user). Submission can be either in DOC (download) or LaTex format (download). Only papers in English will be considered.

    The submitted article will be peer reviewed in a double-blind process (authors and reviewers are anonymous to each other).

    Please submit an unblinded version of your paper (one PDF file). Within the unblinded manuscript, at the beginning, include a Title Page (first page).  

    In what follows, the outlined instructions:

    The Title page should include:

    • The Title of the manuscript (also repeated in the text of the manuscript);
    • The name(s) and surname(s) of the author(s);
    • The affiliation(s) of the author(s), i.e. institution, (department), city, (state), country;
    • A clear indication and an active e-mail address (possibly institutional) of the corresponding author;
    • If available, the 16-digit ORCID of the author(s);
    • Acknowledgements and funding details (if relevant);

     

    The text of the manuscript should include:

    • the Title of the manuscript (repeated);
    • the Abstract (maximum 200 words). An abstract is a concise summary of the whole paper, not just the conclusions, and is understandable without reference to the rest of the paper. It should contain no citation to other published work.
    • Include up to fivekeywords that describe your paper for indexing purposes;

  2. Revision submission

    When submitting your revised manuscript, you must still send a single blinded file.pdf that you have generated from your revised source files; marked revisions (in bold) are really appreciated to help the referees during the second round of reviewing. Furthermore, you must also add two response letters (pdf files), one for each reviewer.

  3. When accepted
    NON-LATEX USERS: Editable source files must be sent at this stage (doc file). Figures should be sent as separate figure files (source files).
    LATEX USERS: Editable source files must be sent at this stage (Tex source file). Figures should be sent as separate figure files (source files).

    At this step (accepted manuscript) all the source files should be sent by email: ijas@sa-ijas.org. Please specify the manuscript ID in the email subject.

Figures policy:

In the production process, it is necessary for us to have separate electronic versions of the figures (original source files: .eps, .jpg, .png, .tiff). We recommend, therefore, that you submit your figures as individual files in addition to your MS Word or pdf file to avoid possible delay in publication. Your MS Word or pdf file must still contain any figures in the text and not at the end of the document.

The journal is printed in black-and-white. Therefore, we prefer that authors supply figures in greyscale so authors should ensure that colour is not critical to the understanding of any figures, and should not describe elements of the figure in terms of their colours.

Citation

Cite references in the text by name and year in parentheses. Some examples:

Text Text Text (Becker, 1993).

Text Text Text (Becker, 1993; Cox et al., 2009).

Reference standards

The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Personal communications and unpublished works should only be mentioned in the text. Do not use footnotes or endnotes as a substitute for a reference list.

Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last names of the first author of each work.
