Abstract

Il progetto del Louisiana Museum ad Hamlebæk, Danimarca,  è del 1956 ad opera degli architetti V. Wohlert e J. Bo. Da quel momento diverse opere di sistemazione e ampliamento sono intervenute di cui l’ultima realizzata nel 2019. In questo tempo la struttura si è venuta ramificando nel parco che la circonda senza perdere il suo carattere, come se, fin da principio, ammettesse la possibilità di una crescita. Un’esperienza americana e un viaggio in Italia sembrano avere avuto particolari riflessi nel pensiero dei due architetti che attraverso il filtro della contemporaneità pervengono ad una diversa consapevolezza della cultura architettonica danese. E’ anche su questo filo teso tra tradizione e modernità che nel Louisiana Museum il tempo appare sospeso.

The Louisiana Museum in Hamlebæk, Denmark, was designed in 1956 by architects V. Wohlert and J. Bo. Since that time several renovations and extensions have been undertaken, the latest of which in 2019. In time, the structure has branched out into the park that surrounds it without losing its character, as if admitting the possibility of growth from the very beginning. An American experience and a trip to Italy seem to have had particular repercussions in the thinking of the two architects who, through the filter of the contemporary, arrived at a different awareness of Danish architectural culture. It is also on this fine line between tradition and modernity that time seems to be suspended in the Louisiana Museum.
