Abstract
The following pages present an article by the Turkish writer and commentator Sezai Sarıoğlu upon the Gezi Parkı revolt which took place in the spring of 2013 in Taksim Square in Istanbul. The article, which has been freely translated from its original, evaluates in particular the effects upon the Turkish left of the particular language and rich imaginative capacities manifested by the movement which animated the first part of the revolt. The cultural outcome is paralleled with the poetic movement of the 1950s, called İkinci yeni (Second New), which in a sense revolutioned Turkish poetics as established during the first decades of the Republican period
