Abstract

Attorno a San Miguel de Allende, nella parte occidentale di Guanajuato in Messico, sorge la Enso House II, realizzata da HW Studio Arquitectos. La casa si imposta sull’incrocio ortogonale di due direzioni che suddivide lo spazio in quattro quadranti separati ma relazionati dal segno che li ha originati. Esso si concretizza in una doppia vertebra di pietra, come se la terra dalla quale la casa emerge fosse anche la terra che la costruisce. Questo fa nascere un’architettura nella quale la sua fisicità non basta ad afferrarla appieno, in quanto vive di una “totalità” capace di definire uno spazio che prima di essere fisico è soprattutto spirituale.

Enso House II, built by HW Studio Arquitectos, is located in the vicinity of San Miguel de Allende, in the western section of the State of Guanajuato, in Mexico. The house is organised on a two-directional orthogonal intersection that divides the space into four quadrants, separate from each other yet related by the sign that originated them. It takes the form of a double stone vertebra, as if the earth from which the house emerges were also the earth that built it. This produces an architecture which cannot be fully grasped by its physical presence alone, since it embodies a “wholeness” that determines a space which, before being physical, is primarily spiritual.
