Lo spazio pubblico nel pensiero e nell’opera di Giovanni Michelucci

Abstract

Streets and public space play a central role in the writings and works of Giovanni Michelucci. The article analyses the relationship between space and society in the vision of Michelucci, with references to some key moments in his life: the relationship with Lawrence Halprin, the reflections on Brunelleschi, and more in general on ancient cities, the crisis of public space in contemporary cities, and the design of a specific public space: the Garden of Encounters (Giardino degli Incontri), at the Sollicciano prison in Florence.
