Lo spazio urbano dei fenomeni migratori. Un’esperienza nell’Agro Pontino

Abstract

City space has always been characterized by the relationship between living and places of interaction, a central theme of urban planning. However, today, multiple different needs come into play for different categories of residents, reflecting the heterogeneity of the demographic, economic, and social structure, evident in the substantial changes in the population: linked to aging, diverse population structure, and new needs. This paper focuses on the consequences of migratory flows, due to work needs, on the relationship between home/work/sociality/mobility, as a basis for the transformation of urban spaces. The territorial system of the Agro Pontino represents an emblematic case of the relationship between foreign residents and their reference territory, identifying an opportunity for regenerating urban space through the integration of living with services and public spaces, as a precursor to integration.
