Dare spazio al valore sociale: la valutazione di impatto nei processi di rigenerazione urbana

Abstract

In recent decades, urban regeneration has become one of the main fields of transformation in contemporary cities, making it increasingly important to identify and assess the social effects of interventions. Within this framework, social impact is understood as the set of changes that a project or policy produces in the living conditions of individuals and communities. This contribution proposes a review of the literature on Social Impact Assessment (SIA), based on comparative contributions discussing different applications and contexts. Through the analysis of the main mapping studies available, the text reconstructs the current configuration of the field, highlights its main methodological trajectories and the functions attributed to evaluation, and discusses the potential of SIA in urban regeneration processes. The analysis highlights a plurality of approaches, the prevalence of ex post applications, and a growing interest in place-based methodologies able to make the social effects of urban transformations more explicit.
