Abstract
We are in ecological and cultural overshoot, which requires whole-system social and ecological regeneration. The Greater Tkaronto Bioregion (GTB) redefines the Greater Toronto Area in geological, ecological, and cultural terms. Characterized by natural features like Lake Ontario, the Oak Ridges Moraine, and the Niagara Escarpment, the GTB encompasses 3 million hectares, with dense urban areas, rural and natural landscapes. Through Two-Eyed Seeing in which Western science interacts with Indigenous knowledge, bioregional strategy moves us toward right story by looking at the uniqueness of a given place in the larger context of Earth regeneration. Building on (re)learning through a Bioregional Learning Center, we are creating the first Bioregional Pando Funding Ecosystem to both organize work on the ground and engage multicapital flows around that work. The GTB is modelling a different kind of resilience and regeneration in deeply balanced, place-based yet translocal terms.
