Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of gentle maintenance of vegetation along watercourses, as discussed on the occasion of the Study Day “The multifunctional river park of the Pesa landscapes – Strategies for use and enhancement”, during the session on “Quality and ecological functionality,” held on February 6, 2024 in Scandicci. With reference to riparian vegetation, in particular of the Pesa river and other Tuscan rivers, the ecosystem services provided, the characteristics of the different types of plants and the management interventions to ensure hydraulic safety and river quality will be discussed.
