Sviluppo e crisi. Per una prospettiva della compresenza

Abstract

The paradigm of modernity, adopting the concept of development as key topic, has processed very many theories of social change: here development and crisis are theoretically and empirically opposing concepts. The increasing complexity of European contemporary societies disputes these theories ability to understand the underway social change. This suggests to elaborate new perspectives focalizing the change process rather then outcome. After a synthetic framing about modernity and the concept of development, the article aims to show the utility in using a crisis and development co-existence perspective to analyze transformations of contemporary democracies.
