Max Weber, la borsa e la ‘crisi del credito’ del 2008

Abstract

Through the reading of Max Weber's Die Protestantische Ethik und der Geist der Kapitalismus and Die Boersenequete, this article shows how the credit crunch of 2008 was mainly due to a general crisis of the financial system and to the dismantle of its fundamental basis like trust, transparency, and respect of the rule of the game. Weber’s thought help us to predict how the lack of independent and public authorities and obscure financial markets have eroded the integrity of the whole American contemporary financial system.
