Abstract
This article explores the connection between architecture and light, as part of the fundamental relationship between architecture and nature, and highlights how Étienne-Louis Boullée transformed this connection, both theoretically, in his Architecture. Essai sur l’Art, as well as through his shadow-themed projects, such as the Temple of Nature and Reason. Boullée’s poetics are still relevant today, and offer a reflection on the “grace” of light in architecture.
