La domus, archetipo dello spazio domestico del Moderno

Abstract

La casa a corte è una forma insediativa comune a tutte le civiltà del Mediterraneo, la domus ne è la declinazione più complessa ed evoluta e ha rappresentato un archetipo di riferimento dal Rinascimento in poi. Le variazioni e ibridazioni tipologiche avvenute nel corso del tempo hanno poi costituito, per i maestri moderni e contemporanei, un fertile ambito di sperimentazione sull’architettura della casa e della città.

The courtyard house is a dwelling type that is common to all Mediterranean cultures, while the domus is its most complex and evolved version and has represented an archetype of reference since the Renaissance. The typological variations and hybrids that have occurred through time have constituted, for both modern and contemporary masters, a fertile ground for experimentation on the architecture of the house and the city.
