Abstract

The article describes some ancient constructions that arouse amazement and presents an interesting catalogue of the most important Roman architectures according to Pliny the Elder. A similar wonder can be seen in many classical descriptions of nature, to the point that the opposition between natural and artificial can be observed in the beautiful frescos that depict gardens and vistas in the houses in Pompeii.
