Breve storia dell’<em>anomalo</em> Dipartimento di Astronomia e Scienza dello Spazio

Abstract

Historically, the Arcetri Observatory was the site for all Florentine Astronomy, irrespective of which administration the astronomers belonged to or the provenance of the funding. At the end of the 1980s, in the wake of the university reforms, the boom in student enrolments and the development of space research, the university astronomers branched out on a path of scientific and didactic independence. This article maps the story of these twenty years which terminated with the administrative integration between physicists and university astronomers.
