Society
The journal is the official organ of the S.I.S.C.A. (Associazione Italiana di Storia della Critica d'Arte ETS). Established in 2005, S.I.S.C.A. is a non-profit association made up of scholars of Art History and History of Art Criticism, whose primary purpose is to promote scientific research.
The interests of the Society are:
- the problems and methodological debate on art criticism and history, in its multifaceted aspects of analysis of sources, of the various typologies of artistic literature and of the orientations of criticism from the Middle Ages to contemporary debate;
- the study of artistic techniques and applied arts;
- problems involved in protection, conservation and restoration;
- the investigation of the history of collecting, the museum itself and the reception of works of art and artists;
- the updating of the orientations of teaching and training in schools and in universities relating to artistic and cultural heritage.
S.I.S.C.A. organizes seminars and conferences, promotes and supports scientific publications and fosters the exchange of information regarding the scientific activities and cultural initiatives of members and institutions in the indicated sectors.
