Abstract
This essay is dedicated to the eighth book of Il Mondo Umano di Lucio Agatone Prisco, a volume published in 1686 by the Florentine Angelo Seravalli. It ironically recounts the imaginary war between painters and sculptors in the fantastical world of Bellania. The amusing exploits of Phidias, Michelangelo, Bernini, Luca Giordano, and other great artists serve as a pretext for recounting all the main topics underlying the theme of the comparison (so called “Paragone”) between the two arts.
