Abstract

Torre67 ad Alezio è la prima opera ‘permanente’ in Italia di Manuel Aires Mateus. Attraverso un intervento minimo, il progetto restituisce abitabilità a una torre rurale salentina valorizzandone le qualità materiche e spaziali. Il confronto con altre opere dello studio rivela come i temi centrali della ricerca di Aires Mateus fossero già presenti nella preesistenza.

 

 

 

Torre67 in Alezio is the first ‘permanent’ work in Italy by Manuel Aires Mateus. Through a minimal intervention, the project restores habitability to a rural tower in Salento, enhancing its material and spatial qualities. A comparison with other works by the studio reveals that the central themes of Aires Mateus’s research were already present in the pre-existing structure.
