Aires Mateus - Due residenze “fuori dal tempo” tra Lisbona e l’Alentejo

Abstract

The spatial and architectural articulation devices implemented by the Aires Mateus brothers in the two houses renovated between Lisbon and Alentejo activate processes of reduction and abstraction, both formal and material. The use of few yet significant materials borrowed from tradition underlines the central nature of the void in the work of the two Portuguese architects and transmits a sense of atemporality and spatial authenticity.
