Abstract
An upcoming campaign by the XMM-Newton space telescope is going to observe 18 quasars located more than 12 billion light-years away from us, with the aims of checking for possible discrepancies with respect to the distances predicted by the standard cosmological model, and investigating the role of dark energy in the early Universe.
