Abstract
The Galileo Galilei Institute (GGI) for Theoretical Physics, a joint initiative between the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and the University of Florence, celebrated its 20th anniversary on 16–17 March 2026 with a well-attended conference. In this brief note, we trace the history of the GGI, describing its transformation into the INFN’s National Centre for Advanced Studies and the evolution of its activities from its foundation to the present day.
