Abstract

A work about axis of vision, vertical vs horizontal, and on direction of image, front vs back, guides some observations, developing in the image space, that Picasso elaborates on representation. The essay proposes a close look to some artworks in which the speculation on above-written oppositions, is functional to “present» the representation. The issue concerns not solely reversals acting on orientation of represented world objects, but axis participating in rewriting the culturally prefigured orientation of painting  and writing and in considering the «shape-of-picture» and image margins.
