Abstract

The paper intends to draw some topics about relationship between word and image in works and thinking of Aby Warburg and Walter Benjamin. In recent history of ideas, word and image are frequently interpreted as alternative ways to express reality. In both, Warburg and Benjamin, and in spite of  their very different methods of approaching history of art and history of culture, we can find a similar idea of the connection between word and image. The two authors deem that this relationship is necessary to understand historical facts and legacy.
