Abstract

A recent TV report highilighted the relationship between the images of a miner, trapped in a cave and then saved, with a participant of the "Big Brother" leaving the "house" of this TV program. Overlapping Warburg's concept of Nachleben and Benjamin's idea of dialectical image the present essay aims to interpret such a montage as an example of a contemporary Pathos-formula, which can "illuminate dialectically" the peculiar aspects of our age and the status of contemporary image.
