Abstract

This essay outlines the history of the Società Italiana di Studi sul Secolo XVIII, an interdisciplinary association which gathers many scholars of history, philosophy, literature, art and culture. Since its foundation in 1978, the SISSD promotes the growth and development of Italian studies, along with the knowledge of the eighteenth century’s cultural heritage, through the organization and patronage of conferences, meetings and cultural events.
