Abstract
Drawing on the argument of Anastasia P. Scrutton that an emotion-free God cannot be described as all-knowing, and the theory of Jennifer A. Herdt of an epoch-making conceptual transition, between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, around the dilemma of the impassibility of a God who is love, this essay examines some coeval English debates on God’s emotions, the divine feminine and proto-feminist reflection on the cognitive function of the feelings.
