Abstract

Many passages of Valéry’s reflections aim to show how vision could be redeemed from the hegemony of language. They outline a sort of rehabilitation of routine seeing, where the artist, once he has grasped the distinction between perception and interpretation, plays the key role in bringing visible things back to their genuine dimension, previous to any signification.
