Abstract

In this paper Ilaria Tani examines the notion of Besonnenheit, introduced in the second chapter of Herder's Abhandlung über den Ursprung der Sprache (1772). Coming from pietistic vocaboulary, this notion constitutes a key-word in Herder's remarks about the links between language and sensibility and an essential reference for the debate between representationism and espressivism in Herder's thought.
