Abstract

As Genette writes in The Work of Art, it is through having an aesthetic relation to the subject that an object becomes an aesthetic object. The attention to the outward aspect of the object and the appraisal as emotional reaction are the two poles of this relation. The artistic relation would be then a particular case of the aesthetic relation.
